Up: Mika Zibanejad

Mika Zibanejad has picked up his game as of late.

Zibanejad has been on fire this week with four goals and four assists for a whopping six points in three games. He has officially hit a career high for goals in a season with 24, power play goals with 12, power play points with 19, and face off percentage with 51.33%.

I have to admit, when he was on a scoring drought I was quite worried. Last season, I was not as concerned with him coming back from injury because it was a broken leg. He took a bit to regroup but ultimately started playing like himself shortly after coming back. The concussion was a whole different story. The very nature of concussions and the recovery process is a day to day situation.

Clearly, my worries have been eased by this point streak. Zibanejad’s overall game has also begun to vastly improve since his injury. Zibanejad is still quite young at only24 years old. He will be 25 at the start of next season and will soon enter his prime. Even though he has been plagued by injuries, I believe Zibanejad has the potential to be a dominant number one center in the league. While he has not yet had a breakout season, he is due for one and I truly believe he will be a monster next season, barring injury.
