Oliver Wahlstrom

Anyone remember the nine year old kid who scored an absolutely filthy shootout goal at TD Garden back in 2009? Well, his name is Oliver Wahlstrom, and he’s one of the top prospects for this year’s NHL Entry Draft. Wahlstrom, a Quincy, Massachusetts native, has been tearing it up for the US Under 18 National Team Development Program.

A big-bodied right winger, at 6’1″ and 205 lbs., Wahlstrom is a lethal scorer. In 26 games with the NTDP, Wahlstrom posted a stat line of 22-23-45. He is a quintessential power forward with an absolutely lethal shot.

To go with this devastating shot, Wahlstrom also has good speed and footwork, and is an outstanding passer. He is also no slouch in his own end. Because of all these attributes, Wahlstrom is an incredibly complete player.

While it isn’t likely that he falls to the Rangers at nine, he might be there at seven. If he is, and the Rangers pick there, he has to be their guy.
