Up until recently, the New York Rangers have had a shaky history in the first round of drafts. Here are four names they should avoid to maintain their recent streak.

It has been heavily documented that this is arguably the most important draft in New York Rangers history. At the moment, the Blueshirts have three picks in the first round. If they want to succeed in this rebuild, they need to hit on these picks.

This year’s NHL Entry Draft appears to be one of the deepest in recent memory. With great depth on the wing and on defense, the Rangers’ two biggest areas of weakness, there is no doubt that there will be great players available when the team goes up to the podium.

With that said, there will also be quite a few players drafted in the first round that won’t do much at the NHL level. The Rangers have a had a streak of success with their first round picks lately — yes, it’s a small sample size over the last eight years. There goal on Friday night will be to find guys who will live up to the hype.

The team has gone through months and months of homework to prepare for this very situation. They probably have an idea of which players to avoid. Just in case, though, they can refer to this article for four names they should probably stay away from at their current projected draft slot.
