First meeting with Washington

The Rangers seventh game of the season will be in the nations capital against the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

After their first Stanley Cup in franchise history the Capitals will be hungry to stay on top of the league. The Rangers and Capitals have had a solid rivalry for years now with their frequent playoff meetings.

While heading in to the season the teams seem to be going in separate directions, this will be a good test early for the young Rangers.

Filip Chytil and Lias Andersson saw success in a late season game against the Capitals and they both figure to be in the lineup for this contest as well. The pace and competition level for every Rangers game against the Capitals is solid so that alone will make this a good regular season matchup.

Couple that with the fact that the Rangers will be heading to the home of the defending Cup champions and you have a great mid-october meet up.

The intrigue in this one is much more because of the fact that the Caps are defending champions than anything else, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t be a great game for other reasons as well.

Seven games in and the Rangers young guns could very well have worked off some early rust if there was any. This game will be a good one.
