#5. October 17: Rangers @ Capitals

Why Watch: Why not?

An early test against the defending Stanley Cup Champions should be a lot of fun for Rangers fans. The Capitals will no doubt be good once again, but it will be interesting to see if they are suffering from any type of Stanley Cup hangover at this point in the season.

This will be the seventh game of the season for New York and no doubt there will still be a lot for the team to figure out. What better way to do so then to be thrown in on the road against one of the best teams in the league?

This is one of the few times the Rangers are on National TV during the first half of the season. The Rangers and Capitals usually make for good television as well.

There aren’t many match-ups better than Alex Ovechkin vs. Henrik Lundqvist. Plus for the first time it will be a Rangers game on “Wednesday Night Hockey,” not “Wednesday Night Rivalry Night,” as the station has rebranded their NHL showcase.

At the very least you will be watching a hockey program that is more properly named, a statement that would not have been true in the past. .
