As the 2018-19 season gets underway there more question marks around this New York Ranger team than any in recent memory. Here’s a look at what to expect.

As we all know, the Rangers missed the playoffs for the first time in eight years and embarked on a massive rebuild.  The Blueshirt faithful still clings to the belief that this team could make the playoffs and actually be good.

There are reasons to argue in either direction. The team’s forward depth is considerable and is creating plenty of scoring chances on a nightly basis. If nothing else, the Rangers are playing an aggressive game and creating shots, even if it’s not converting them.

On the flip side, the defense is just so terrible that the forwards cannot overcompensate. If the game is going to be a track meet every single time, the defense needs to at least fall in front of the puck once and a while.

All signs point to a bad season ahead, but the team could surprise.  Are you a pessimist or an optimist?  There are reasons for both.
