#2 New Jersey Devils

The Devils have played the fewest games in the NHL and have yet to lose. After starting the season with a big win over Edmonton in Sweden, the Devils had four days to shake off jet lag and came home to blow out the Washington Capitals 6-0.  This weekend New Jersey had a come from behind victory against the Sharks, 3-2.

As they made virtually no moves in the off-season and started the season with first-string goalie Cory Schneider on injured reserve, there were expectations that the Devils were due to slide after last season’s surprising run to the playoffs.  So far, not so.  Keith Kinkaid has won all three starts and sports a sparkling 1.33 GAA and a save percentage of .949%.

The Devils have taken up where they left off last season with a balanced offense and a solid relatively no-name defense.  The Devils are undefeated and they’ve done it with no goals from Taylor Hall or Nico Hischier. A truly remarkable statistic is that in three games and 180 minutes of hockey, the Devils have had the lead for over almost 120 minutes and have trailed only for a little over eight minutes.

The Devils have yet to play a road game (they were the home team in Sweden) and look for them to keep winning as they play four out of the next five at the Rock.
