The New York Rangers played in some highly offensive games this week. However, they were on the wrong end of two of them.

Record: 2-2-0

Scores: NYR vs FLA W 5-2, NYR @ CHI L 4-1, NYR vs LAK L 4-3, NYR vs SJS W 4-3 (SO)

The New York Rangers have had the ghosts of playoffs past come back to haunt them. With a loss to the Los Angeles Kings (and Alec Martinez sealing the deal, no less) and another loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, it’s become apparent that we are truly in for a long haul.

Even the regulation win against the Florida Panthers is not enough to soothe the two atrocities that came after. With the newness of a new coach and a new season wearing off, you can no longer ignore how truly terrible the team is. The win against the San Jose Sharks was a gut check win, but still a sign of what is wrong with the team.

With no star player outside of a 36-year-old Henrik Lundqvist and young players still years away from even being considered for an NHL spot, the future remains uncertain.

With the offensive lines not even remaining consistent, how can we expect the players to? For now, we’ll just continue to trudge through this developmental year.
