Neutral: Brett Howden

Brett Howden has been on a bit of a cold streak lately. The 20-year-old looks like a young player going through growing pains, so exactly what’s to be expected from someone making the jump right from junior hockey to the pros.

The former Moose Jaw Warrior has had a fairly successful rookie season so far. In 27 games played, he has recorded four goals and nine assists for 13 total points. However, he has hit a bit of a wall offensively.

In the past seven games, Howden has tallied just one assist. However, much like Filip Chytil, I don’t think there’s anything to be concerned about. At 20, Howden is going through the same adjustment of transitioning to the NHL.

Previous to this season, Howden had only played a handful of AHL games. Mostly, he played in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors. This means that the transition is going to be harder than for a player transitioning from the AHL

. While he has been handling it well, there are bound to be bumpy patches for him. Besides, Howden has been playing well, he just hasn’t been recording points.

Next. Just how lucky are the New York Rangers this season?. dark

For a player making the jump from juniors to the NHL, having their play away from the puck is great is all that you can usually hope for. The fact that Howden has been successful offensively has been a success all on its own.
