My three stars of the game (not easy  to find three):

  1. Mika Zibanejad was held off the scoresheet, but he worked hard.  He won 14 of 23 faceoffs and led the team in hits (4) and takeaways (4).  He had five shot attempts.  He was the best of a mediocre lot.
  2. Brady Skjei continues his revival while paired with Adam McQuaid.  His shot from the blue line resulted in the first Ranger goal and he seems to be getting his game back.  He played over 20 minutes, second only to Neal Pionk.
  3. Pavel Buchnevich had an awful giveway that led directly to a Pittsburgh goal, but he tried to make up for it with a chippy, physical game and he went to the net repeatedly. He scored the Rangers second goal and had five shot attempts.

Next. Is it too soon to give up on Pavel Buchnevich?. dark

The official three stars:

  1. Kris Letang
  2. Evgeni Malkin
  3. Matt Murray
