New York Rangers taken ten penalties and are thrashed 6-1 by the Colorado Avalanche

My three stars of the game
- Alexandar Georgiev deserved better. He made 41 saves and kept the Rangers in the game until midway through the second period. He had more shorthanded saves than in any other game this season. After two periods, after facing 33 shots he had only allowed one even strength goal. The second goal for Colorado was the weirdest deflection. Mikko Rantenen atttempted a cross ice pass. It hit Neal Pionk’s stick and fluttered over Georgiev’s head into the net. Total puck luck. As I said, Georgiev deserved better.
- Ryan Strome scored the only Ranger goal on a breakaway. He had six shot attempts and four shots on goal and he played a very solid game. He now has a three game point scoring streak and has goals in consecutive games.
- Adam McQuaid gets the third star because he was plus one, had four hits and five blocked shots. He was also responsible for the single humorous moment for the Rangers when he was challenged by Tyson Jost after a scrum. It looked like they were going to go, but then Jost realized who he was challenging and he backed down, quickly.
The official three stars
- Tyson Barrie
- Nathan MacKinnon
- Mikko Rantanen
