New York Rangers Stock Market: Entering the All-Star break on a high note
Down: Kevin Hayes
Unfortunately, it’s not Kevin Hayes’ fault that his value has gone down this week. Of course, he’s been injured and hasn’t played since January second.
He had been thriving before he got hurt, with four points in his final five games, all assists. However, he has been sidelined with a “lingering” injury since earlier this month.
After slamming into the boards in a matchup against the Arizona Coyotes on December 14th, he has been considered “day-to-day.” He pushed through to play the last few games of the calendar year, but landed back outside of the lineup due to this nagging ailment.
While he is expected to play when the Rangers return this Tuesday, missing a week at this point in the season was definitely not great for him. Since the trade deadline is roughly a month away, and Hayes has been the subject of many trade rumors, both the team and the individual player would have benefitted from this injury not happening.
This week, due to his injury, the value of Kevin Hayes has decreased, as both an asset to this team and a trade piece. His return on Tuesday will most likely help all parties involved, helping Hayes get back into his routine, and the Rangers watching one of their stars’ values increase, as a talented leader in the organization or a potential part of a deadline deal.
