My three stars of the game

Henrik Lundqvist

was the single biggest reason that the Rangers won this game. He has won 30 of 42 career decisions versus Carolina, the third most wins against any team. He’s  beaten New Jersey 37 times and Philadelphia 35 times.  With seven full days of rest, Lundqvist looked very solid in goal.

  • Tony DeAngelo has become the Rangers’ most dynamic offensive defenseman.  His passing and skating shows why he was a first round draft pick and he is not making bad decisions on defense any more.  I’d argue that he should be getting first power play time instead of Kevin Shattenkirk (who hasn’t been playing badly).   He’s had assists in six of the last eight games and has set personal bests in assists and points.
  • Pavel Buchnevich continues his excellent play, adding an assist on the winning goal.  He is thinking shoot first and if he continues, it will start to result in goals.  It looks like David Quinn has gotten through to him.
  • Next. Trading Peter Holland was a smart move. dark

    The official three stars
