New York Rangers: Not quite good enough in 4-3 OT loss to Tampa
By Steve Paulus
My three stars of the game
- Jimmy Vesey is playing with more authority and confidence than anytime in his career. He has slipped onto the top line and the transition has been seamless. Zuccarello is missed most on the power play, but at even strength, Vesey is using his big frame to get to pucks and he is not hesitating to shoot. He is one goals from tying his career high total and has already exceeding his personal best in points and assists.
- Mika Zibanejad scored yet again, tying his career high with 27 goals. He is a threat everytime he enters the offensive zone. He had a 59% winning faceoff percentage a well.
- Tony DeAngelo played 26:32 minutes, the most of any Ranger defenseman. I’ll say that again, the most of any Ranger defenseman (by more than six minutes). He had an assist in his eighth straight game and played as if he something to prove to Tampa. Which he did as he was a first round draft pick that they gave up on after one year in the organization.
