The New York Rangers could begin the 2019-20 season with more rookies on the team than ever in their history.  Which first year players will make the team?

The top 37 New York Rangers prospects took part in the the Prospect Development Camp last week.  While most of them will be refining their skills in junior hockey, the NCAA or Europe , there were a number who could suit up with the varsity at Madison Square Garden in October.

In looking at the prospect pool, it’s possible to project when each of them will be NHL-ready.  It’s hard not to get excited about the team’s future as this was as fine a collection of talent that the team has ever gathered.  Even more positive is the fact that some top prospects were not at the camp, having already finished one year as professionals.

2018-19

Ten rookies suited up for the Rangers in 2018-19, including Lias Andersson, Filip Chytil, Steve Fogarty, Alexandar Georgiev, Tim Gettinger, Libor Hajek,  Brett HowdenBrendan Lemieux and Ryan Lindgren

Andersson, Chytil, Georgiev, Lemieux and Howden seem like grizzled veterans compared to the new crop of kids.   As for Libor Hajek and Ryan Lindgren, they both got a taste of the NHL and they will be joining the class of rookies who will see Madison Square Garden in 2019-20.
