A trophy winner!

Apparently, one person in the world thought that a New York Ranger had won an NHL award after last season.  The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.  Take a look at who won (click on the picture to see it).

Yup, the winner was Robin Lehner of the New York Rangers.   Lehner’s tweet says it all.

Rangers add scouts

The Rangers made several additions to their organization, including the formal announcement of the hiring of Tanner Glass and Tuomo Ruutu as development coaches (that has been widely reported already).

The team also named Chris Morehouse Director of North American Scouting. This is clearly a John Davidson hire as Morehouse spent the last seven seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets as an Amateur Scout.   Morehouse immediately added two Blue Jackets colleagues, bring over Marshall Davidson and Derek Ginnell as Amateur Scouts.

Yes, Marshall Davidson is John’s brother and he has worked with him during his tenures with St. Louis and Columbus.  He is credited with discovering Colton Parayko, now one of the top defensemen on the Stanley Cup Champions.
