My three stars of the game

Kakko Kappo

gets the first star for scoring his first NHL goal and being the only offensive bright spot in the game for the Blueshirts.  His goal was something special and showed off his great hands.  Now that he has scored his first goal, the new question will be: When will he be moved to the first line and the first power play unit?  Here’s another look at the goal:

  • Henrik Lundqvist had a very good game and came up with some clutch saves.  He gave the Rangers a chance to win and didn’t give up an easy goal.  On the third Oiler goal, there is some legitimacy to the argument that he should have gotten a whistle when the puck was under his pads.  He has allowed seven goals in two games and hasn’t played badly at all.
  • Artemi Panarin did his best to win this game for the Rangers.  He played an excellent two way game and made on incredible foray into the Oilers’ zone.  It’s not his fault that the passes he received were off the mark so he couldn’t take his patented one-timer.
  • The official three stars

    Connor McDavid

    Leon Draisaitl

    Mike Smith

Must Read. The Rangers are working on the Kreider situation. light

    Next up

The Rangers are now off for four days with their next game on national television Thursday night against New Jersey.    The winless Devils (0-2-2) have games against Boston and Florida before they face the Rangers.  The Hughes-Kakko hype will be relentless.
