My three stars of the game

  1. Kaapo Kakko played his best game of the season.  He had a goal and an assist and his plus/minus was +1 for a change as he was able to chip away at the -12.  The last two games he has been much more proactive with the puck and is looking like the player the Rangers thought that they had drafted.
  2. Artemi Panarin singlehandedly tried to get the Rangers back into this game.  He had five shots on goal and scored on the power play.
  3. I would be hard  pressed to name a third Ranger who had a good game so there is no third star.

The official three stars

  1. Anders Nilsson
  2. Jean-Gabriel Pageau
  3. Brady Tkachuk

The Rangers have a day off before taking on the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday in a nationally televised game.  It will be a good test for the Blueshirts as Detroit has the worst offense in the league, averaging 2.2 goals per game while allowing an NHL third worst 3.80 goals per game.  The Wings were spanked 6-1 by the Predators at home and leapfrogged the Senators into last place in the NHL, courtesy of the Rangers loss to Ottawa.

It will be a late start with puck drop at 8pm.  It’s a game the Rangers should win.  Famous last words.
