My three stars of the game

  1. There is no doubt about it.  Henrik Lundqvist probably deserves all three stars. He has faced 83 shots in two games and made 80 saves. That’s a .964 save percentage.  He was simply spectacular.
  2. Pavel Buchnevich played another dynamic game and scored the game winning goal on a drive to the net after stealing the puck.  He also added the secondary assist on Brendan Lemieux’s power play goal. He now has 12 points in 14 games and is clicking with Kreider and Chytil.
  3. Artemi Panarin continues to excel in every game. It was his check that sprung the puck to Strome and Fast and led to the crucial first goal the Blueshirts scored.  He added an assist on the Adam Fox empty net goal after his forecheck sprung the puck loose so he could get it to Fox.

The official three stars

  1. Henrik Lundqvist
  2. Pavel Buchnevich
  3. Sebastian Aho

The Rangers are off for two days and resume play against the Florida Panthers at the Garden on Sunday.   The Panthers are contending for a playoff slot this season and will be another tough Eastern Conference test.  It’s a 1pm start time.

More. A Rangers weakness. light
