1. Winning ugly

Good teams find a way to win even when they aren’t at their best, and that’s exactly what the New York Rangers did on Sunday against the Vegas Golden Knights.

They were dominated from the first drop of the puck and were bailed out by their goaltender (more on him later), who was outstanding from start to finish.

But you also have to give credit to the rest of the team who rolled their sleeves up and showed a killer instinct to blowout the Knights on the scoreboard.

The Rangers also came prepared for a fist fight as they outhit Vegas 36-21, and they produced a real gutsy display on the road.

That kind of never-say-die attitude is the hallmark of any playoff hopeful, and it is a trait that the Rangers are going to have to adapt full-time if they are to make the postseason this year.

They will also need more of that spirit on the road this week with some tough games ahead, but it was positive to see the Blueshirts grind their way to a big and impressive win against a good team.
