My three players of the game

  • Tony DeAngelo is my first player of the game and it is not even close. I mean, how could it be?! DeAngelo had a night that every defenseman in the NHL can only dream of with a five point night, headlined by a hat trick. DeAngelo has been an offensive juggernaut all year long and this was his standout game, driving the Rangers to a big win over their Hudson River rivals and writing himself in the history books in the process. Something tells me that the Rangers may well be more motivated to do whatever they can to sign Tony DeAngelo to a new deal now.
  • Igor Shesterkin

made his second straight start and, like his NHL debut against the Colorado Avalanche, the rookie was kept busy. In total, Shesterkin faced a whopping 49 saves and he stopped 46 of them, including a stunning sequence in the third period when he stopped a

rebound with a sublime glove save. Although a small sample size, everyone connected with the New York Rangers will no doubt be excited by what they’ve seen from Igor Shesterkin so far.

  • Artemi Panarin reached the 60-point plateau with another three-point night as he torched the New Jersey Devils. Getting the Rangers on the board with a thunderous one-timer in the first period, Panarin is just incredible to watch and we should never take for granted how lucky we are to be able to say we have one of the elite playmakers playing for our beloved Blueshirts. Also, Panarin became just the fourth Ranger in franchise history to record three or more consecutive three-point games at home, which just speaks volumes for the kind of historic year the forward is having.

The New York Rangers are off on Friday before facing a real litmus test on Saturday as they head to St. Louis to take on the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, who look real dangerous again this year.

Then, it is back to Madison Square Garden for the Blueshirts who will take on the New York Islanders on Monday, in what is the first of three match-ups between the two teams in the span of a week.
