My three stars of the game

Alexandar Georgiev

has to get the top star because of his excellent play during the second period when the Blue Jackets were strafing the Ranger goal. As we said earlier, this was a statement game for Georgiev.

  • After a quiet game in Minnesota, Chris Kreider was a force once again.  He routed the Zibanejad faceoff win to Trouba on the Rangers’ first goal and he scored the winning goal with a perfect one time from the slot.  He led the team with  three shots and was a physical presence on the boards, something he doesn’t always do.
  • Without Tony DeAngelo in the lineup, Adam Fox played an even bigger role than he normally does. He fed the puck to Zibanejad on the game winning goal and quarterbacked that power play that kept the puck in the Columbus zone so long that the defenders could hardly move, leading to the open Kreider shot.  He had a team leading 23:27 of ice time and seemed to be everywhere.  It was an excellent effort.
  • The office three stars of the game

    1. Chris Kreider
    2. Alexandar Georgiev
    3. Elvis Merzlikins

    What’s coming up

The Ranger come home for a one game home stand, facing the league;s best, the Boston Bruins. The game will be nationally televised on NBC and it starts at 3:30pm.   While the Bruins are tough, they will be playing the second game of back to back games and they are in a dogfight with Tampa for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.  It will be a good game and a good test for this confident Rangers team.
