New York Rangers: A game with the playoffs in the balance
By Steve Paulus
Three keys to winning
- Stop Sebastian Aho – As Aho goes, so go the Hurricanes. As mentioned, he has a 10 game point scoring streak and leads the Hurricanes in all offensive categories. It’s no small wonder that along with linemates Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen, they are the top three scorers on the team.
- Let Gauthier loose – It’s rare for a player to be traded and then immediately get a chance to make his mark against his former team. Gauthier has to believe that he deserved to crack the lineup and was disappointed three straight Septembers when he was sent to the AHL. This will be a great opportunity to see what the rookie is made of.
- Get back on the defensive track – If the Rangers play the same way they played in Chicago they will lose. The defense was very undisciplined and the Blueshirts were lucky that the Blackhawks are weak defensively and caved in during the third period. The Hurricanes are a different story, as they shots on goal in each game with the Rangers indicates. Shesterkin will have to be at his best tonght.
