New York Rangers  goalie Igor Shesterkin and winger Pavel Buchnevich were injured in a car accident.

Terrible news from the New York Rangers involving two of their young stars.  Apparently Igor Shesterkin and Pavel Buchnevich were in a car accident last night and both will miss action, with Shesterkin the worse of the two.  The story was broken by Dan Rosen of nhl.com.

Rangers President John Davidson is holding a news conference this morning to announce this news and also a contract extension for Chris Kreider.   It’s reported to be a  seven year deal for $6.5 million annual AAV.

It’s not the kind of news we expected on trade deadline day and changes the outlook for this season.  Blue Line Station will have updates as they become available.
