Notes on the game

  • As the Rangers go for number nine in a row on the road, the last team to accomplish that were the Nashville Predators in 2017-18.
  • The Rangers are now 4-1 in overtime and 1-2 in shootouts.
  • Artemi Panarin now has a ten game point scoring streak.
  • Mika Zibanejad has scored in five straight games and has a goal in seven of his last eight games. The five game streak ties his career high, set two years ago. He has an eight game point scoring streak, a new career high.
  • The game winning goal was Zibanejad’s 100th as a Ranger.
  • The Rangers won three of their four games with the Islanders this season.  The last time they won a season series against them was in 2013-14.
  • The Rangers have been feasting on Metropolitan Division rivals with a 13-5 record.  They still have three games left with Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.  Those six games may tell the Rangers’ playoff story this season.
  • With his 15th win of the season, Alexandar Georgiev has set a new personal high.  Last season he had 14 victories.
  • While J.G. Pageau scored a goal (and a lucky one), he played 12:07 with two shots. He won 10 of 14 faceoffs, but took himself out of the game for 17 minutes when he attached Jacob Trouba after the check on Michael Dal Colle.
  • The Rangers won only 38.3% of the draws and a lost draw in the third period helped play a role in the Islanders tying goal. Every center was below .500 except Greg McKegg who won three of six.
