The New York Rangers have given out many long-term contracts over the years that take up a good chunk of the team’s payroll. But what about the other contracts that allow the team more cap space to sign other players… the team-friendly deals.

Over nine months, Jeff Gorton handed out huge deals to players like Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba, shelling out $183 million over the next seven years for these three players. While they have found some form of success in New York, their cap hits may end up hurting the New  York Rangers who will have players like Mika Zibanejad who will require a new contract in just a few years.

On the other hand, Gorton has done a fine job of signing several players to very team-friendly pacts. Players on Entry Level Contracts don’t have any leverage so we won’t include them, but when it comes to Restricted Free  Agents (RFAs) the terms are negotiable.

These are the three Rangers with the most team-friendly contract this season and have to be considered among the NHL’s best bargains.
