June 17 is the anniversary of the New York Rangers ticker-tape parade, share your memories.

One of the benefits of winning a championship in New York is you are the recipient of a ticker-tape parade down the “Canyon of Heroes.”   The 1994 New York Rangers ended a  seven year drought, following the 1986 New York Mets into immortality.

The only New York sports teams so honored have been the Yankees (nine times),  the Mets (three times), the football Giants (three times) and the baseball Giants (once).   It’s been over ten years since we’ve honored a New York team, a streak the Rangers would love to end.

Pity the Islanders and Devils whose versions could hardly compare.  The Islanders traditional victory parade was through the streets of Uniondale, while the Devils got to enjoy a trip through the Meadowlands parking lot.  It’s an understatement to say it doesn’t compare to the estimated 1.5 million spectators lining Broadway or the over 20 tons of paper that came streaming onto the players.

If you want to relive that wonderful trip to a championship, the MSG Network is replaying games from throughout the 1994 playoffs with Game 7 versus the Canucks and the parade airing on Friday night.

If you weren’t there, here is a version of the parade as presented by the MSG Network on the 25th anniversary:

If you were at the parade, or watched it on television, feel free to share your memories with us and we will share them with other Ranger fans.  Send us a paragraph or two about your experiences via email at:

We received some nice responses to our request for memories of the 1994 Cup win.  Of course, nothing will rival the next time the Blueshirts take the Cup and that parade down the Canyon of Heroes will be spectacular (COVID-19 permitting).

For those of you who were around in 1994, it’s the morning after and think back to how delirious you were on that June morning.

Thanks in advance!
