Tweets from former Rangers

While current players (except Tony DeAngelo) were reluctant to post messages, there were some former Blueshirts who chimed in.

The funniest message was from Esa Tikkanen and was along the lines of the tweet from the Carolina Hurricanes.  In Tikkanen’s case, he thanked fellow Finn Sebastian Aho for his part in making the lottery win possible.

Arguably the greatest French Canadian Blueshirt of all time had no doubts that the Blueshirts will take Alexis Lafreniere with the top pick.  Rod Gilbert welcomed his fellow Québécois to New York in French.

Mike Rupp was the designated analyst on the lottery telecast and his prediction about Lafreniere’s output playing alongside Artemi Panarin was enough to thrill any Ranger fan.

Ron Duguay contributed from the perspective of a former first round draft pick.  Duguay was selected 13th overall in the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft.

From the team that knows him best

Rimouski Oceanic, Lafreniere’s team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team sent a message to New York.  They included a video montage of highlights featuring their young star.  It certainly looks like Rimouski has no doubt about who should go first in the draft.

Some humor

What would Twitter be without humor.  Here are some examples.

This is only a small sampling of social media and it’s only from players, alumni and official sources.  There are thousands of similar messages from giddy fans.   You can be assured that this won’t be the last of the social media posts we will see before the draft on October 9.  Hey, it’s only two months away!
