The New York Rangers two best players have reacted to the team’s one-sided postseason loss

It took a while, but Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin have used social media to address New York Rangers fans.  We haven’t heard from many players due to the limited access because of the pandemic and as time passes, we should hope to see more comments.

Although we heard from Mika Zibanejad in the postgame Zoom press conference after Game Three, it was a dispirited affair as he and Chris Kreider were clearly depressed  in the aftermath of the quick playoff ouster.

Earlier this week, ZIbanejad posted a heartfelt message on Instagram.  It featured a picture of him at the Garden and the following message.

"“Had to take some time to gather my thoughts after this playoffs. It was an incredibly disappointing ending to a season with a lot of positives and also some growing pains. I know it was disappointing for all of us but I know we will come back stronger and better! We will do this together! Rest up, get ready and keep staying safe! See you soon!  #noquitinnewyork”"

It’s another example of the team leadership that Zibanejad displays.  He’s sensitive to the needs of fans who want to hear from their heroes.

He was joined by teammate and Hart Trophy finalist Artemi Panarin.  The Breadman is not a prolific user of Twitter, but tweeted this message on Wednesday.

Chris Kreider posted this message on Instagram: “Thank you NYR fans for all of the support, beginning to end. Even though it wasn’t the outcome we all wanted, It was truly a season we will never forget. Hope to see you guys in the stands next season!”

Pavel Buchnevich also weighed in on Instagram.  He said  “Thank you @nyrangers fans for your support during this crazy season. I can’t wait to be back at MSG next season. Stay safe and see you all soon!”

There had been similar sentiments from Tony DeAngelo, but this tweet after the Rangers won the first pick in the draft is hilarious.

This has been the strangest year in NHL history, with the bubble creating a true void of contact with the players.  We actually heard more from Rangers players during the pause than when practice and play resumed.   It’s good to know that at least some of the players are sensitive to the needs of fans and hopefully we will hear more.
