Stanley Cup Playoffs postponed

The New York Rangers organization supported the NHL’s decision to postpone the Playoffs
The NHL took some heat for being the last active major sport to put a halt to their season in response to the shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Players from the NBA were the first to boycott, followed by Major League Baseball. Over 100 players took part in a call organized by Evander Kane and Matt Dumba, two leaders of the Hockey Diversity Alliance. The New York Rangers organization tweeted support of the players’ action.
After that call, the NHL announced that all playoff games scheduled for Thursday and Friday would be postponed.
Earlier, the Hockey Diversity Alliance had called on the NHL to stop playing games.
Several hours later, the NHL postponed the games and the NHLPA put out this statement.
As Pierre LeBrun of TSN pointed out, it was the players who forced the issue and not the league that led the way.
The teams in the bubble were the ones that were behind the movement to stop playing, reportedly led by the Vancouver Canucks players. Vegas Golden Knights veteran Ryan Reaves spoke for all of the players.
The Madison Square Garden Company took some heat for not making a public statement about the death of George Floyd until every other NHL and NBA team had done so. They moved very quickly in this instance.
The NHL is working on putting out a revised schedule for the remaining games in this round of the Playoffs.
