Third round – Moore than enough!

The Rangers have done well in the third round and the only current Blueshirt to make a top three was a third round draft pick.

Win: Dominic Moore (#95 – 2000) – Moore played 897 games in the NHL including two stints with the Rangers.  His contributions to the 2014 Rangers team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals are well documented.  He was awarded the Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2014.

Place:  Mike McEwen (#42 1976) –  McEwen was gifted offensive defenseman who played a key role on the team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1979 when he scored 20 goals.  He played three full season in New York before being traded to Colorado for Barry Beck. He played 716 games in the NHL for seven different teams.

Show: Pavel Buchnevich (#75 2013) – Buchnevich sneaks into the top three with the potential to move up.  He’s already fifth overall in points by players picked in the third round and he should continue to add to those totals on Mika ZIbanejad’s right wing.

One that got away:  Anthony Duclair (#80 2013)  – Picked in the same year as Buchnevich, Duclair had finally blossomed into a solid NHL player.  If he keeps playing this way, he could end up being the best player ever drafted by the Rangers in the third round.

Other notables: Rob Zamuner (#45 1989), Louie DeBrusk (#49 1989), Corey Millen (#57 1982),  Peter Sundstrom (#50 1981)

Future star:  Zac Jones (#68 2019)
