Only three New York Rangers prospects were in action on Saturday with SHL games cancelled due to the coronavirus
New York Rangers prospects in the Swedish Hockey League are on hold as several games have been postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests. Three prospects were supposed to play, but their games were called off.
Calle Själin and Leksand were supposed to take on Karl Henriksson and Frölunda, but there was no game. Similarly, Nils Lundkvist and Luleå had their second of back-to-back games against Rögle called off. It was an opportunity for Adam Edström of Rögle to meet up with the best Ranger prospect in the SHL.
These were going to be big match ups with the three of the teams fighting for first place with Frölunda holding a one point lead over Rögle and four points on Luleå .
There was a game in Sweden involving a Ranger prospect and it was in the Nationell Norra Junior league. Oliver Tärnström was held off the scoreboard in a 7-4 win for AIK over MODO.
In Finland two prospects played. Lauri Pajuniemi played his second game after returning from a leg injury and was scoreless in 20:12 of ice time. He did have four shots on goal as TPS lost in overtime 4-3 to HIFK.
Leevi Aaltonen played only 6:07 in KalPa’s 3-2 loss to Ilves on the road. The left winger had three shots on goal in the loss.
Sunday will see more prospect action as both Vitali Kravtsov and Traktor and Yegor Rykov’s CSKA will both be playing. Some Swedish Allsvenskan league games are scheduled as well, coronavirus permitting.
