New York Rangers prospects were in action in Russia and Sweden
Vitali Kravtsov played just under 16 minutes in Traktor’s 5-1 loss to Metallurg. It was a key Eastern Conference matchup and with the win, Metallurg pulled within a point of Traktor in the standings. Kravtsov was scoreless with three shots on goal, one hit, a minus one rating and two minutes in penalties.
Kravtsov’s penalty was an important one. He was sent off for delay of game after shooting the puck into the stands. Metallurg scored on the subsequent power play to take a 1-0 lead. Traktor is now off for eight days, with their next game on November 10, a rematch with Metallurg on the road in Magnitogorsk.
Yegor Rykov was back in the lineup after missing the last two games, but CSKA lost their first game in regulation in seven games, dropping a 4-3 decision to Dynamo Moscow. Rykov played 16:05 minutes of ice time and his plus/minus was -2. He had two shots and one blocked shot, but didn’t make the scoresheet.
CSKA remains in first place in the Western Conference with 36 points, nine more than second place SKA St. Petersburg. CSKA is also off for eight days with their next game on November 10 vs. Spartak.
Swedish action
In the Allsvenskan League, goalie prospect Olof Lindbom got his fourth win of the year for Mora in five decisions, beating Vita Hästen (The White Horse) 3-2 in overtime. Lindbom stopped 23 of 25 shots as Mora improved to a record of 7-2-3. Lindbom was the Rangers’ second round pick in 2018.
Also in Allsvenskan, defense prospect Jakob Ragnarsson got his first point of the season, assisting on the fourth Timrå goal in a 4-0 win over Altuna. Ragnarsson played 12 minutes was credited with one hit and his plus/minus rating was +1. Timrå has won eight of ten games this season.
Oliver Tärnström had a goal and an assist in AIK’s 7-5 win over Timrå IK in Swedish junior hockey action. He assisted on the first AIK goal, an even strength goal and then scored his fourth goal of the season five minutes into the third period. It was a power play goal and turned out to be the game winning sixth goal for AIK.
Tärnström, a third round pick in this year’s draft, now has four goals and four assists in 12 games for AIK. He also took a tripping penalty with less than three minutes left in the game. It ended on on a bad note when Timrå scored during the penalty kill. It led to 35 minutes in penalties handed out to both teams.
Adam Huska’s a.s. Zvolen team in Slovakia remains in a quarantine that started on October 23 and has cost them three games.
It will be quiet week for Rangers prospects abroad as there are only seven games with team prospects scheduled over the next eight days (coronavirus permitting).
