The New York Ranger have signed Ryan Strome and should have Brendan Lemieux under contract soon.  Here’s the depth chart

Okay Ranger fans.  Forget about Erik Haula or Mikael Granlund. At this point, if you look at the cap space the Rangers have,  forget about signing a partner for Jacob Trouba. . If you look at the current New York Rangers roster what you see is what you will get. Any questions about roster moves were answered when Ryan Strome signed his two year deal.

With training camps over a month away (at the minimum), we can take a look at the depth chart position by position.

Centers

The center position is the most set among all of the forwards.  Zibanejad, Strome and Chytil are a lock for the top three lines and based on John Davidson’s description of Kevin Rooney as a penalty killer, it looks like he has a head start on the fourth line job.

What that means is Brett Howden’s future is on the wing and the dark horse candidates like Morgan Barron are AHL-bound.  NCAA defensive whiz Justin Richards may get a shot to challenge for Rooney’s job, but he is likely to get seasoning in Hartford.

Sure things:

Mika Zibanejad
Ryan Strome
Filip Chytil
Kevin Rooney

Contenders:
Brett Howden

Dark horse candidates:
Colin Blackwell
Morgan Barron
Patrick Khodorenko
Justin Richards
