There were a handful of games involving New York Rangers prospects
There were games in the Allsvenskan League in Sweden that featured two New York Rangers prospects. Meanwhile, a prospect was supposed to play in a tournament in Finland was cancelled due to the coronavirus and another Rangers prospect couldn’t play in a tournament due to the pandemic.
Goalie prospect Olof Lindbom played in two of the three games for Mora in the Allsvenskan League. Wednesday, he was on the losing side of 6-3 decision on the road versus Timrå. He allowed five goals on 36 shots, the poorest outing of the season for the Rangers prospect.
He sat out Mora’s win over Kristianstad on Friday, but got the start on Sunday and rebounded with one of his best outings of the season. He was in net for a 5-1 road win over AIK. Lindbom faced 32 shots and allowed only the one goal.
Lindbom has been in net for eight of Mora’s 13 games this season and has a record of 5-1-1 with the 10th best .913 save percentage and a 2.59 goals against average, 11th best in the league. Mora has the fourth best record in the league.
Defense prospect Jakob Ragnarsson played in all three of Timrå’s games this week. Timrå is battling Björklöven for first place and won all three games they played. Ragnarsson had a plus/minus of +3 over the three games and didn’t make it onto the scoresheet. He had one shot on goal in the three games and three hits.
The COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on hockey as Oliver Tärnström and his AIK junior team had their game at Västerås cancelled.
There was supposed to be a three game series in Finland between the Swedish and Finnish U20 teams in Malmö, Sweden, but the series was cancelled. The Swedish National World Junior Selection Camp was cancelled after several players tested positive. Ranger draft pick Karl Henriksson was supposed to take part in that camp.
Meanwhile, the KHL, SHL and Liiga are all on hiatus while the Karjala Tournament was played in Helsinki. That’s a tournament with a round robin format featuring teams from Sweden, Finland, Russia and the Czech Republic. The lone Rangers prospect who was supposed to play was Nils Lundkvist with Team Sweden, but he was re
moved from the team due to the pandemic and positive tests on some members of his Luleå team.
