Only one assist for the four New York Rangers prospects in action on Thursday

One game in Russia and three games in Sweden featured New York Rangers prospects.  We haven’t seen a lot of offense from the Rangers’ prospects in Europe, but the good news is most of the prospects are on successful teams. In Russia, Traktor and CSKA are both in first place in their respective conferences.

in Sweden,  Adam Edström  and Karl Henriksson’s teams  are all battling for first place.  Nils Lundkvist’s team is mired in the middle of the pack, but he is playing heavy minutes and contributing.

SHL (Sweden)

Nils Lundkvist and Luleå Hockey hosted Örebro and won in overtime, 4-3.   The Ranger prospect assisted on Luleå’s third goal and he played 23:14, second most on the team.Lundkvist was on ice for three of his team’s goals and finished with a plus/minus of +2.   Luleå has had a rough stretch, losing three in a row and having several games postponed due to the pandemic.

With a 6-2-2-3 record, Luleå is in seventh place in the SHL.  Lundkvist notched his first point in four games and now has two goals and three assists on the season, in 13 games.

In another SHL games that went to overtime, Leksand lost to Linköping by a 2-1 score.  Calle Själin was plus one on the contest with a shot on goal in 16:26 minutes, but he didn’t make the score sheet.

Leksand had been on a mini-roll with two wins in a row. They have not lost in regulation in four games and are in ninth place in the SHL.

Center Karl Henriksson played for the Frölunda Indians in their 4-1 win over Oskarshamn at home.  Henriksson played 13:51, but was held scoreless.  With the win, Frölunda opened a six point lead in the SHL over idle Rögle.

Rögle had the night off due to the coronavirus, with their second straight game postponed.  Adam Edström and his Rögle team  were supposed to play  Färjestad at home.   Several Rögle  players have tested positive and all of their games this week have been cancelled.

KHL (Russia)

Yegor Rykov was patrolling the blue line for CSKA as they travelled to Nizhnekamsk where they won once again beating Neftekhim  4-2  in front of 1,185 spectators.  Rykov was a plus one and had one shot on goal in 15:51 minutes of ice time, third most on the team.

CSKA is perched in first place and they have won four games in a row. They have now opened a ten point lead on second place SKA.
