Some shocking news about former New York Rangers star Henrik Lundqvist

The hockey world and New York Rangers fans were shocked to see this tweet from Henrik Lundqvist.

Henrik Lundqvist has a heart condition that will make it impossible for him to play this season.   What this means for playing in the future is unclear, though he does mention the possibility of “remedying my condition.”    He did rule out playing at all this season.

Lundqvist signed a one year contract with the Washington Capitals after being bought out by the Rangers.

He added this video message on the Capitals’ twitter account.

It’s shocking news and all we can hope for is that the condition is not life threatening and that Lundqvist will be able to recover fully.  Playing hockey again is a minor consideration when it comes to health, especially in a time when the world is wracked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sad news and we all wish the King the best in his treatment and recovery.

We’ll have more on this breaking story as we get it.
