Can the New York Rangers end the streak?

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be looking to extend their three game winning streak and leapfrog the idle Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers in the standings. Depending on the outcome of the Buffalo Sabres versus Washington Capitals game, scheduled for 3pm, the Penguins could catch the Capitals for a first place tie in the East Division.

In each of the three wins of their winning streak have come in the extra session. The beat Washington in a shootout on January 17, and then in overtime on the 19th. They followed those wins with a shootout victory over the Rangers on Friday. Each of the three games were come from behind victories, showing the resilience of this veteran Penguins team.

As is the norm, the Penguins are led by Sidney Crosby who has five points in five games. Jake Guentzel and Teddy Blueger add to the attack with four points each. Both Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang are off to slow starts with only two points each on the season, though both factored in to the Penguins victory over the Rangers.

The Penguins started the season giving up 11 goals in two games to the Flyers, but have given up only 10 in the last three games. Their game has leveled off as has their goaltending. Tristan Jarry stopped 31 of 34 shots against the Rangers for a .912% save percentage. There are no significant changes to the Penguins line-up expected and Jarry should get the start in goal.
