The National Hockey League announced some schedule changes and a few involve the New York Rangers. While there are a umber of games being rescheduled, the Rangers are affected by two.

First, the game this Saturday, February 20 in Washington will now start 12 12:30pm instead of 7pm.

The game scheduled for Sunday in Washington is postponed and will be played on Saturday, March 20 at 7pm.

The game on Sunday against the Flyers that was postponed still needs to be scheduled.

The scheduling change means the Rangers will have three days off after their game Saturday afternoon.  While that may seem like good fortune, it also means that the schedule in March will be very compact.  They will play 16 games in 29 days.  That will include three sets of back-to-back games.

The original April schedule wasn’t much better.  What all of this means is after February 23, the Rangers play 39 games in 74 days with one game still to be rescheduled.  They will play seven sets of back-to-back games with two straight days off only three times.

The really bad news is that there inevitably be more postponements and that will make it even tougher.  Every team is in the same boat and teams like the Devils are in for even more games in fewer days.

Ticket information

The Rangers released information about the limited number of tickets that will be available for games starting February 26.   There is a full FAQ section on the team’s website. Click here to see it.

The most important fact is that they do not anticipate any tickets being available for the general public as the demand from season ticket holders will outstrip supply.

All ticketholders will be required to provide a negative PCR COVID test taken within 72 hours of the day of the game. Attendees will need to pass a health survey and must provide appropriate government ID

There will be assigned entrances to the arena and doors will open 90 minutes before the game. There will be a temperature check for all attendees as well.  No bags will be allowed and everyone must wear face a mask.

Food and beverages will be sold and must be consumed at attendees’ seats and there will no cash accepted.

Fans will be allowed to buy two tickets and will be seated in two seat pods a minimum of six feet from other pods.  Suites will be open with attendance restrictions.

There will about 2,000 fans at each game with season ticket holders getting first crack at tickets.  They can transfer tickets using the MSG App and that means there may be an active “black market” for tickets for fans who don’t hold season tickets.  The team reminds that anyone with a transferred ticket must pass the health protocols including the PCT test, health survey and temperature check.
