The Hartford Wolf Pack played their fourth game of the season and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Providence Bruins on Sunday afternoon. It was the Pack’s second straight loss and their first at home at the XL Center in Hartford.  It was a rough day for New York Rangers goalie prospect Tyler Wall who was chased from the game in the second period after giving up three goals on 16 shots.

It was Wall’s second loss in two starts.  Veteran Keith Kinkaid had started the first two games for Hartford.  In Wall’s first pro start on Wednesday he gave up four goals on 17 shots in a 5-3 loss to Bridgeport.

Wall’s misfortune was Dylan Garand’s chance to get into his first professional game.  The 2020 draft pick took over at the 14:37 mark of the second period and he stopped eight of nine shots.

He really had no chance on the one goal scored against him off an odd man break.  Garand is still waiting for the Kamloops Blazers WHL season to start.  Other teams in the WHL have been given the go ahead by health authorities in their own provinces, but British Columbia has not give WHL teams the approval to start play.

The Wolf Packs got one goal from Morgan Barron, his second of the season.

The goal, assisted by Patrick Newell and Mason Geertsen pulled them within one goal making the score 2-1.   The Bruins were up 4-1 when Ty Ronning scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Will Cuylle.

Providence added an empty net goal in the last minute of regulation.

Leading Wolf Pack scorer Jonny Brodzinski was shut out as well as leading defenseman Tarmo Reunanen.  Morgan Barron has two goals and an assist in three games.  For Ty Ronning, the 2016 draft pick scored in his first game of the season.

Here are video highlights from the game. The fight 13 seconds into the video was between Wolf Pack defenseman Mason Geertsen and the Bruins’ Nick Wolff.  The video starts with a nice stop by Wall and includes all of the goals.

The Wolf Pack play next on Saturday at home against the same Providence Bruins.
