About the Rangers and Bruins

Alexandar Georgiev returns to the net for the Rangers, hopefully over the bad outing he had in Pittsburgh on Sunday when he allowed three goals in 61 seconds.   Georgiev has been called on to halt losing streak five times this season and is 3-1-1 in those five games. They’ll need to him to be at his best tonight.

There are changes in the lineup for the Bruins as they have called up winger Zach Senyshyn to play on the fourth line.  Jake DeBrusk is also back after being a healthy scratch in their last game.  Sitting out this game will be wingers Anders Bjork and Chris Wagner along with goalie Tukka Rask who is nursing an injury.  Jaroslav Halak will get the start.

The season series

This is the fifth game between the two teams with the first four games at Madison Square Garden. After Saturday’s game, the two teams don’t meet until the last two games of the regular season in May.

February 10 – Bruins 3, Rangers 2 (Overtime)

In Georgiev’s first start since his fisticuffs with Tony DeAngelo, he made 29 saves, but gave up the game winner 36 seconds into OT to Brad Marchand.  Julien Gauthier scored his first NHL goal in the losing effort.  Tukka Rask got the win.

February 12 – Bruins 1, Rangers 0

Jaroslav Halak continued his domination over the Rangers with the shutout as Nick Ritchie scored the only goal of the game in the second period. Igor Shesterkin made 29 saves and allowed the one goal, but it wasn’t good enough.

February 26  – Rangers 6, Bruins 2

This was one of the most dominant and complete games of the year for the Rangers as they completely dominated the Bruins.  Georgiev got the win and Tukka Rask took the loss as the Rangers blew open a one goal game with two goals in 12 seconds in the last 1:10 of he second period.

February 28 – Bruins 4, Rangers 1

The Bruins came out having lost two in a row, badly and they totally dominated the Rangers in a nationally televised game.  Rask came back from the bad loss to win the game as he outdueled Alexandar Georgiev.
