About the game

The Rangers jumped out to an early lead when Brendan Lemieux caused a turnover in the Flyers’ zone and got the puck to Adam Fox who rushed the puck and got it back to Lemieux for the goal.

That one goal lead, scored seven minutes into the game was was doubled seven minutes later on a wicked shot from Artemi Panarin on a feed from Ryan Strome.

The Rangers took that two goal lead into the second period, outshooting the Flyers 8-6.

The second period was simply a barrage . Here are all seven goals scored by he Rangers in the second period.

While most of the second period was the Zibanejad-Buchnevich show, Jacob Trouba also got his first of the season and the kid line got into the action when Filip Chytil scored on a great pass from Libor Hajek.

The only scoring threat from the Flyers came on a power play and Georgiev simply robbed Nolan Patrick. Meanwhile, the Rangers chased Brian Elliott after he allowed five goals on 13 shots.   Carter Hart came into the game and gave up the shorthanded goal to Mika Zibanejad on the first shot he faced.

As soon as Filip Chytil scored the ninth and final goal in the second period, the game was over.  The third period was uneventful and the only question was whether Georgiev would get the shutout.   The Rangers played a responsible shut down defense in the third period, taking no risks and there were virtually no scoring opportunities for the Flyers.
