Rangers claw back, but too little too late & lose 5-4
By Steve Paulus
My 3 Rangers stars of the game
- Adam Fox continues to excel as he added two assists to his division-leading total. He played a game high 27:09 minutes and was the best Ranger on the ice whenever he was on a shift. While some have lamented the loss of Tony DeAngelo as the power play quarterback, it should be noted that Fox is second to Victor Hedman among NHL defensemen with 17 power play points.
- Colin Blackwell single-handedly jump started the Rangers offense in the third period with a very nifty move to score. He then came back three minutes later to score a second goal on a redirect from the front of the net. He may not be the best player on the ice, but you always get an honest effort from Blackwell and today it almost spurred the team to a big comeback.
- Kevin Rooney is another bottom six forward who gives a solid, honest effort every game. He had two assists on the game and was second on the team among forwards in penalty killing time. He was also the only center who won more draws than he lost (60%).
The official three stars
- Tom Wilson
- T.J. Oshie
- Colin Blackwell
