Can the Rangers do it again to the Islanders?
By Steve Paulus
The New York Rangers played one of their best games of the year on Friday night, beating the Islanders 4-1. They’ve displayed a disturbing habit of losing after big wins and this is a perfect chance to break that trend. It won’t be easy for the Rangers to beat the Isles twice a the Nassau Coliseum where they have only lost twice all season.
They will try to do it with Igor Shesterkin in net as the team goes back to their number one goalie instead of Alexandar Georgiev who has owned the Islanders for two seasons.
Coach David Quinn said the goalie choice was one that they discusses as much as any lineup decision this season. ” Shesty…his play overall has put him in this position. Georgie played a helluva a game the other night but to me, Shesty has put himself in a position to get this opportunity.”
As for the rest of the lineup, Quinn said the lines will remain the same.
David Quinn was asked which Ranger team we will see tonight. He said “I’m fully anticipating seeing the Ranger team that you saw the other night and hopefully a little bit better. ”
The good thing about this team is we will probably know which Ranger team we will see within a few minutes after puck drop. One of the challenges for a team as young as the Rangers is the ability to be consistent. It’s something that they will definitely need in the playoffs and there is no better time to figure it out than now.
