My 3 Ranger stars of the game

  • Mika Zibanejad won the game for the Rangers by setting up Chris Kreider for the first Ranger goal and by  scoring the game winner on the power play.   Although he was minus one on the game he had three shots on goal and eight shot attempts.  He also won 10 of 18 draws.
  • Pavel Buchnevich gets the second star for his work in all three zones in this game. Though he was scoreless in this game, he was third in ice time among forwards and when most of the Rangers were treading water in the third period, Buchnevich was the best Blueshirt on the ice.  This has really been a breakthrough season for the Russian and it is mostly due to his emergence as a defensive whiz.
  • Vitali Kravtsov

gets the third star for scoring his first NHL goal and continued effective play in all three zones.  He has made the fourth line a true offensive threat, scoring the goal and also setting up Brett Howden for a sterling opportunity.  Kravtsov is showing that he should be playing up in the lineup, the question is where does he fit in.

    The official 3 stars

    1. Mika Zibanejad
    2. Mikhail Maltsev
    3. Marian Studenic
