There are 60 players participating in the New York Ranger training camp.  Day one was set aside as a “media day” and the players got their pictures taken and had their physicals.  Thursday, training camps gets underway for real.

Who are the 60 players and what can we expect from them?  There are veterans who are guaranteed a job and for them, this is just a chance to get in game shape.  There are prospects who will be fighting for a role with the Rangers along with prospects who are destined to play in Hartford to get their first pro experience.

The youngest players are prospects who just want a taste of the big leagues before returning to junior hockey. There are also older players who have no chance of making the team and will definitely fill out the roster in Hartford with a chance of a call up if they play well.

Let’s break the 36 forwards, 17 defensemen and seven goalies down into four groups.  We’ll lead off with the players who are a lock to be playing at Madison Square Garden this season.
