My 3 Rangers stars of the game

  • Adam Fox played 23:31, the most of any Ranger and had four shots on goal. He picked up offensively from where he left off from last season and he had the secondary assist on the Kreider goal.  He came close a few times to getting the Rangers on the scoreboard.
  • Sammy Blais played his usual game and drew a tripping penalty by Tom Wilson.  He took six minutes in penalties including coincidental double minors in a scrum with Trevor Van Reimsdyk. He did take a soft cross checking penalty in he third period.  He had three hits and two blocked shots.
  • Chris Kreider

played an effective game at right wing, throwing two hits and scoring the Rangers only goal on a tip-in of a great pass from Ryan Strome. It wasn’t a great effort, but on a night with few of them, his was one of the better ones.

    The official 3 stars

    1. Alexander Ovechkin, Capitals
    2. Hendrix Lapierre, Capitals
    3. Vitek Vanecek, Capitals

    What’s next

The Ranger have a quick turnaround and play the Dallas Stars at Madison Square Garden Thursday night.  Puck drop is 7pm and there will be a pregame ceremony  honoring Rod Gilbert.   We’ll have to see what lineup changes are coming.

MSG Network will present an hour-long pregame show and will introduce Henrik Lundqvist as an in-studio analyst.
