My Rangers stars

  1. Jacob Trouba played a tough and physical game and his point shot led to the only Rangers goal. He led all Rangers with 23:42 minutes of ice time, even more than Adam Fox. He had three hits and three blocked shots and took on Brett Ritchie in a first period scrum.
  2. Dryden Hunt still doesn’t belong on the power play, but he did score the only goal for the Rangers and had a dynamic game on the forecheck.  He may not have the best hands in the league, but he does throw the body and do the dirty work on the boards and that helped lead to the goal.
  3. Ryan Strome played very well, especially considering he was coming off an extended leave on COVID protocol.  He won nine of 10 faceoffs and his return helped Artemi Panarin to one of his best games this season.  Having Strome back can only mean good things for the Rangers, Panarin and the Blueshirts power play.

The official 3 stars

  1. Jacob Markstrom – Flames
  2. Blake Coleman – Flames
  3. Mikael Backlund – Flames

Whats next

The next game for the Rangers is Friday night versus Columbus at Madison Square Garden.  They will practice Tuesday, have Wednesday off and will get back on the ice on Thursday.  After Columbus it’s back on the road for another four-game trip to Seattle, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.  It won’t be easy.

Friday will be “Essential Workers Night” at Madison Square Garden.  The game will be televised on the MSG Network at 7pm.
