My 3 Ranger stars of the game

Adam Fox

gets the first star for setting up three of the four Ranger goals  and playing yet another fine game.  He’s putting to bed any discussion that he isn’t the best defenseman in the NHL.   His assist on the Lafrenière was one of the season’s highlights.

  • Igor Shesterkin could easily have taken the first star and is really a 1A choice.  Once again, he kept the team in the game when they were being outplayed early and he didn’t make a single mistake the entire game.   Shesterkin seems to respond to challenges and facing Merzlikins was a challenge. It’s another reason to question why he didn’t get the start in the season opener against Ovechkin. At any rate, it was a great bounceback win after the Calgary game.
  • Chris Kreider

is more involved every game than ever before in his career. If he can avoid one of those lengthy goal scoring droughts, this could be the season he puts it all together. He has established himself as one of the best at deflections and he is playing physically and with emotion.

When he does that, he is unstoppable.

    The official 3 stars

    1. Igor Shesterkin
    2. Adam Fox
    3. Chris Kreider

    What’s next

The Rangers hit the road and travel to Seattle to play the Kraken for the first time.  Game time on Sunday is 9pm on the MSG Network.  Nationally, the game will be on the NHL Network.

Tuesday they play in Vancouver, then are off until Friday when they play Edmonton and Saturday in Calgary.  It’s the first set of back-to-back games since the first two games of the season.

Seattle won’t be a pushover.  They are 3-4-1 this season with a 2-1-0 record at home.

Enough bashing Lafrenière. light. Related Story
