Gallant on 7-3 loss: “We’ll bury it and go on to the next one”
By Steve Paulus
My 3 Rangers stars
- It’s odd to give stars to defensemen in a game with seven goals scored against, but Nils Lundkvist gets the first star for scoring his first NHL goal, leading the team with four shots and also not being on the ice for any of the seven Colorado goals.
- Same for Jacob Trouba who was a minus two, but also contributed two points and was the one Ranger who made life miserable for the Avalanche. He led the Rangers with three hits.
- Kaapo Kakko keeps working hard and gets better with every shift. It makes you wonder how much he would have scored if they had kept on the line with Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome. It still is not clicking with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider.
The official 3 stars
- Nazem Kadri – Avalanche
- Logan O’Connor – Avalanche
- Devon Toews – Avalanche
What’s next
The Rangers have a day off before heading to Buffalo for a game Friday night. You can be sure that they will be working on some of the issues they encountered this game in practice on Thursday. Game time Friday is 7pm. After that, they take on the Predators at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
